āIt is difficult to get a YouTuber to get to the point, when his salary depends on his not doing so.ā
@rands The other day I watched a video where the presenter first discussed what she would talk about, in what order, and what the conclusions were. And then she split the video into chapters so I could skip to the parts I was interested in.
A YouTuber who took Rhetoric 101? And cares more about content that revenue? I was stunned.
I respectfully request that every tutorial YouTuber refrain from using a āgleeful mouth agape pointing at thingā on the title card.
@vektorgarten @rands I also like to get to the point and actually strip worthless seconds.
Amen. Sadly I watch shorts now. The regular video log creators just ramble on about minutiae.
@rands @reichenstein But then they wouldnāt be able to say their favourite phrase:
āWithout further ado...ā
;-)
@rands for most of 'em it's "Subscribe to my channel.".
Translation: "Give me money for a SHOUTY UPPERCASE THUMBNAIL with my pretend shocked face superimposed, followed by yak.".
@rands @kaffeeringe
Pardon me for having the audacity to add something to that sentence:
ā¦speaking at a normal pace, instead of rambling at 120% of normal speed, as if you have fire ants crawling up your legs.

@rands
For this reason I can't stand watching "professional" documentaries (made for tv, etc). They take so long to get to the point, repeat facts in different ways many times and often go off on pointless tangents to pad for time.
In comparison, most YouTubers (in my experience) do get the point far more quickly.
@rands
omg steer clear of "Griftbusters"
Set bloviation to stun!
