Hello Mastodon, I'm a science journalist and chemistry writer, currently at C&EN. I'm trying to figure out this platform - any advice is greatly appreciated.

I was unable to finish paintings and have a sale last year due to , well life, but this year I'm resuming my tradition of an end-of-year sale.
As in previous years it will run over a series of nights, depending on how many pieces are finished. Many have been in progress for years. Works on paper will also be included. It will take place on my Facebook Art page (LiamDalyArt) AND I'm hoping to also run it simultaneously on a new website TBA. It will start Sun, Dec 18, 2022.
Just did a count of all paintings currently in progress. It's 75. Almost all have been on the go for a least a year, and some for many years. They will not all be finished in time for next month's online year-end sale. And because I can't help myself there will be even more started between now and then.

I went hiking in the Ozarks on Saturday morning and stumbled on a small patch of frost flowers!

This is the first time I've seen them, and I was surprised to see them this late in the year. Frost flowers typically form during the first few hard freezes of fall when sap in certain small plants freezes, rupturing the stem and forcing water out. The water freezes on contact with the air and builds up into distinctive flower-shaped petals!
