I was in Cole Valley the other day and saw this neat shop called Simple, which sells soaps and lotions and stuff. The twist is, containers are sold separately, and you bring them back to refill rather than throwing out one pump-bottle after another.

I've heard of this existing elsewhere in the Bay Area, but this was the first I'd seen one in the City. It's right on the N-Judah line.

I don't currently need anything they have, but I do want to check it out at a time when they're open.

Bought some surface-cleaning powder to work on some crusted-on gunk on my kitchen floor.

Poured it into a mason jar, and spilled some… onto the kitchen floor.

One unplanned mopping session later, I can report that the cleaning powder worked as well as I'd hoped.

You can do sorts, row counts, simple SELECTs, sharding by row or column count, and more. Almost everything is stream-based so as to work in constant memory.
