I was in Cole Valley the other day and saw this neat shop called Simple, which sells soaps and lotions and stuff. The twist is, containers are sold separately, and you bring them back to refill rather than throwing out one pump-bottle after another.

I've heard of this existing elsewhere in the Bay Area, but this was the first I'd seen one in the City. It's right on the N-Judah line.

I don't currently need anything they have, but I do want to check it out at a time when they're open.

If you see a senior citizen in excess of 8 ft tall, walk quickly, do not run, to your nearest shelter zone.

The number of times I had to wait for a break in the cloud cover…

Shot on my Canon 5DS, freehand out the window because I didn't feel like setting up a tripod at 3 in the morning

But what if you're 280?
Muni Clipper readers take credit cards now:

Huh. TJ's now has their own version of Ritz Bits Sandwiches.

(Fun fact: You used to be able to buy Ritz Bits—the mini crackers, without any filling—by themselves. Then they introduced the pre-made cracker sandwiches. Then they discontinued the bare mini crackers, leaving only the pre-made mini-cracker sandwiches and the bare full-size crackers.)

So, anyone know what was up with the projections on City Hall last night?

I did an experiment to see how much my printer scales up documents on its 4-by-6-inch borderless setting.

(It does this so that photos extend off the edge of the paper—literally; this is why there's a waste-ink cartridge—instead of having to line up down to the micron.)

Result: A 5 cm rectangle became 5.18±0.01 cm square (scanned twice, once in portrait and once in landscape, on the sheet-feed scanner), which is a scale of between 1.034 and 1.038.

To counter it, scaling to 96% should work.
