I love not touching wildlife. I love observing briefly and moving on. They don’t want our company anymore than you want the boogieman tickling your feet at night.
On tonights walk through the park we saw a big beautiful leopard frog and a “natural family awareness month” sign. Only put our hands on one >:)
So I looked up a recipe, which I soon learned was not necessary, as applesauce is damn near foolproof (lol). All the reviews were complaining how watery it was, to seriously reduce or cut out the water entirely (as “apples are mostly water anyway”). Load up my gorgeous instantpot with apples and a little lemon juice, no water, and soon enough she’s screaming about a burn. After adding water it turned out fine, a little runny but not bad for a first attempt. But even after the sauce cooled, it still tasted warm, and I hate the taste of warm fruit, so bust!
My family has always been a cheese and butter family, they rarely eat anything green and it’s usually from a can. Occasionally, my mother will delude herself into thinking a bunch of bananas or a head of broccoli will be enjoyed by all, when it’s almost always left to rot in the fridge. If I’m lucky, sometimes she will bring me all the produce about to go bad. Most recently, it was a bag of apples, which ordinarily I would’ve loved and eaten them, but I don’t like green apples, and this was a big bag of bruised granny smiths. Figured this would be a good time to take a crack at applesauce.
Was googling how make yogurt in an instant pot without a yogurt option, feeling like I maybe shouldn’t have purchased the starter. My partner shows me our instant pot does in fact have the yogurt button. Im so excited this is like Christmas 2
The refillery reopening was awesome! I couldn’t find my favorite chocolate, but I found a vegan yogurt starter, conditioner bar samples, and toothpaste tabs. Bought some locally made bagels and got a couple free mini macarons! Tried some mocktails and reconnected with a high school friend. Was waiting outside in the sun for an extra 20 minutes past when they were to open, sweat dripping down my legs and a little from my eyes, but it was worth it. My hopes of TVP were crushed, but I finally have a local chickpea dealer!
The only feeling I have about starship is dread.
They want to use that to launch batches of HUNDREDS of Starlinks at once. And guess where all those Starlinks will end up? The pieces that don't make it to the ground will end up in our upper atmosphere, screwing up the stratosphere, the ozone layer, who knows what else because SpaceX isn't required to do any environmental assessments of this.
Shit. Maybe a good time to post this essay I wrote yet again: https://theconversation.com/an-astronomers-lament-satellite-megaconstellations-are-ruining-space-exploration-215653

An astronomer’s lament: Satellite megaconstellations are ruining space exploration
Megaconstellations of satellites are hindering the most powerful tool for space exploration: telescopes.
The ConversationI saw some glorious, big butterflies today!
For a couple of seconds. They didn't stick around.
I did take pics of these beautiful bugs, though :)

Had my first appointment with the hip surgeon today at 9:30am, was getting an insurance covered taxi ride at 6:50am. And now it’s 8:30 and I’m going back home because the electric car kept turning itself off and the surgeon couldn’t accommodate more than 5 minutes late. And I’m rescheduled for July 2. You ever feel so mad that you die immediately
