The Time Machine (1960 US, UK) this is one of my favorite films. Based on the HG Wells story of the same name. Stop motion specialist George Pal directed this iconic film. Critics at the time were MEH which was not uncommon for sci-fi. Audiences were warm to it as it made money but barely. True sci-fi has had struggles being accepted as legit. It’s still not scoring that well on Rotten Tomatoes. Wtf! The cult status of this film now puts it at high grossing. I think one of the big selling points of the film is the costumes and props namely the machine itself which was built (and likely had a hand in design) by the nicest most humble Wah Ming Chang. Chang later went on to design and build props and costumes on Star Trek TOS. There are too many iconic props to mention but of note was Tribbles and the flip communicator. As so many know that communicator was the inspiration for flip phones. Wow what a legacy!
