So many computers in the e-waste bin today. I grabbed 4 Dells, all 3rd gen i3s with 4 or 8 GB of RAM. Three of them have half-height PCIe dGPUs. One has a HDD but the rest of the HDDs were missing. They probably just forgot to remove one before recycling.

I probably need to get a bunch of cheap SATA SSDs and 2.5"->3.5" drive brackets. Not sure what I'm going to do with all of this though! One will be Guix System. Maybe one for FreeDOS and such.

(I already found the pictured Acer in the e-waste bin a year or so back which runs Debian and Xfce.)

This past week I've ran over 160km, which I'm confident is a PB. At least a half marathon every morning for the past 13 days, with the longest run being 30km. I kinda want to see if I can make this my new normal. #running #runnersofmastodon
I've been #running a bit more lately, with a half marathon each day these past four days. Today was a bit fast and the legs are now a little sore, so I might cross train tomorrow but will see how I go. #runnersofmastodon

Trying to use the Victoria Police's online theft reporting tool at https://www.police.vic.gov.au/report and clicking "Report a theft" gives me a Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead error!

So to report a theft, I have to click past "If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details." 🙁 #victoriapolice

Report

How to report different incidents and crimes to Victoria Police. Always call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

I've tinkered with Copilot in Edge (Flatpak on Arch) before, but this was my first time interacting with the actual app on a Windows machine. About as useful as I was expecting. #copilot
I've been gradually increasing my monthly total running distance, and it's been going without issue. Then yesterday I did some sprints for the first time, and the legs are finally feeling it. Looking forward to recovering and doing more. #running #runnersofmastodon
Physical media FTW! Glad to finally have these in the collection. PQ (1) especially should be nice music to listen to while working.

I decided that my Raspberry Pi "rack" (made from a cardboard box, Pringle can and takeout containers) was possibly a fire hazard.

Someone was throwing out an old wooden bed stand today, so I made a smaller Pi rack replacement out of a plank of wood from that instead.

Better than a Fire tablet, I this week I found a Galaxy Tab A6 in good condition. The battery is fine. There is a tiny mark on the screen (under the glass I think) that is not always easy to notice. Setting it up (wiping the old user data on it) was a PITA, but I'm happy with the results.

Somebody didn't want an Amazon Fire HD 8 (7th generation) tablet. There might be a reason for that... we'll see. Time for LineageOS maybe?

The previous tablet owner was more privacy conscious than that of the last find. This device had been factory reset and the front camera covered with black tape. The other PC find had not been wiped and did not use encryption for storage.
