i agree with @beep here. this is how i have been talking genai specifically, and "ai" in general, and it is comforting to know that not only i have arrived at this conclusion. "ai" is a failed technology and we should talk about it as such. it only works as intended as a means to scare people into accepting lower compensation for their time and work.
Sometimes, the stuff that @pluralistic writes makes me angry. Not at him, mind you. I know where to direct my pitchfork and torch.
a few years ago, every interest group needed a facebook page and/or group. then, they wanted a slack. now, it’s a discord.
we should have just stuck with phpBB and not sold the places where we talk about our interests to corporations for the cost of a little server space and maintenance work, so they can slowly enshittify their services to squeeze as much profit out of us as possible.
