Podlodka #466 – Window Managers

Мы редко задумываемся о том, как вообще управляем окнами. Alt-Tab, мышка, перетаскивание, сворачивание – как-то работает и ладно. Но если присмотреться, это один из самых недоосмысленных инструментов…

We tracked like 17 million train arrivals last year to see where delays happen, and this is the result 🗺️

(on that note, we have a new website so check that out too)

One amazing thing about 2025 is that, if you start up an Apple product, it forces you to choose between _three different_ window mangers, but if you start up a clean install of a current version of Linux, it just chooses good defaults for you.

I am so sick of this signing bullshit everywhere. Just developed my first extension and cannot install it :(

F*ck yes. I got so confused when I couldn't find the controls, and they ended up being hidden in the (i)

apple tells me authoritatively that the next macos version WILL be installed tonight, I have no choice in the matter

then it goes to do it, and all the sudden it's like, "umm can i pwease have ur password to do the installation??? 🥺 "

You can tell AI team is getting paid more than Chrome team

Also, I have been sponsoring @bobko for a bit since I love using https://github.com/nikitabobko/AeroSpace, so I upped that one up to $5/mo as well.

Long story made short is, if there's a piece of #OSS that you use that is maintained by one person or a small group that isn't corporate backed, show them some love if you can afford to do so.
