Republicans talk about the SAVE Act as if it just requires a photo ID.

The voter registration and proof of citizenship requirements are the real problem, as most state driver's licenses won't count as valid ID.

Having to register in person with an overpriced passport, which most people don't need, or a birth certificate in your current name, is designed to frustrate millions of Americans, especially married women who changed their names.

As I've said before, stipulating that you have to make these cuts to pay for a tax cut for the wealthiest is like saying you have to stop buying shoes in pairs since you're going to cut off your leg. You don't have to make the rich richer. But that's their priority. The rest is theater. /fin
