@danirabbit bluesky is the social media equivalent of CDMA phones: both are the property of a singular for-profit entity creating a so-called "open" technology.

Bluesky social is basically Qualcomm.

He's proud of his ChatGPT Premium subscription even when everyone else is cancelling it. He claims it's "useful." He even tells me to embrace AI slop.

He claimed Toontown Online will ruin my brain, yet AI is ruining his.

This is why #AI shouldn't write your drivers. There's a reason NetBSD and Asahi ban AI.

FreeBSD doesn't have Wi-Fi driver for my old MacBook. AI built one for me

My old 2016 MacBook Pro has been collecting dust in a cabinet for some time now. The laptop suffers from a “flexgate” problem, and I don’t have any practical use for it. For quite some time, I’ve been thinking about repurposing it as a guinea pig, to play with FreeBSD — an OS that I’d aspired to play with for a long while, but had never had a real reason to. During the recent holiday season, right after FreeBSD 15 release, I’ve finally found time to set the laptop up. Doing that I didn’t plan, or even think, this may turn into a story about AI coding.

@mastodonmigration I like to compare mastodon vs bluesky like gsm vs CDMA.

CDMA was owned by one company, gsm was not. Same with bluesky vs mastodon.

CDMA and bluesky are "open" (note the quotes). GSM and Mastodon are truly open (note the no quotes).

CDMA ended up dying after nobody wanted to be a prisoner to Qualcomm. Bluesky is no different.
