@pokateo "Lidar scan" is legit amazing.

I think that the reason I muster anything other than cynical contempt - nay, that I muster actual enthusiasm - for the Humane AI Pin is that I'm so sick of the phone as the attenuator between my brain and the digital world. It's the reason why the UX paradigm in the movie "Her" was so compelling, and the reason why smart glasses at least raise my eyebrow with interest.

*The UX bar to clear - ever-larger glass slabs in my pocket - is so low already.*

Humane’s AI Pin is powered by GPT-4 and has a “Trust Ring”

Humane’s AI wearable is set to launch on November 9th, but thanks to a Time Magazine feature we have new information about its AI capabilities and features.

Here is my (slightly less unhinged than I expected) musings on the current state of designing for the web.

Generally, I think we lost something when we stopped calling people web designers and forced people to pick a side.

It's 2023, here is why your web design sucks.

Exploring the reasons why we no longer have web designers.

(I know this isn't strictly true - I once had a grand time testing a subcanopy lidar instrument in Australia)
@themapsmith AWESOME

What kind of research specialty would I need to be able to get posted to the Îles Crozet for a season? https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Crozet_Islands

This is the problem with remote sensing. The *remote* part really undermines the need for fieldwork. #mapping #research #antarctic

@themapsmith Nice! Are you giving a talk at all?

@spara put together a great toolkit for deploying your own #llm, including some great examples of prompt engineering with geographic data in mind: https://github.com/spara/foss4gna-2023-prompt-engineering

The key is that it takes some work. Successful prompt engineering is the result of a reinforced *conversation*, not a single question thrown into a metal box. #mapping

@kristinHenry I apologize, I thought that was related to images. Will update.
@themapsmith No man, I wish. You?
