If history records the fighting began on J6/2021 they will be wrong. Leading up to that were two brutal battles in the streets of Washington DC: Nov 14 and Dec 12 2020. These were huge, division-size engagements, with up to 20,000 Trump supporters backing 800-1000 Proud Boys plus the three percenters, plus the Oath Keepers.

I had several friends lives saved by body armor those nights, and spend weeks riding all over DC in plates due to the knives and concealed pistols of the far-right.

Hell, Charlottesville 2017 was a precursor to this, though we earned 3 years of partial peace by defeating the Richard Spencer/Pepe the Frog/"Kekistan" wing of the far right decisively. Until then, they grew every week and they collapsed after. In 2020 it was all "alt-light": Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, 3%er's and hordes of MAGA meatheads.

The Summer 2020 fighting over the police murder of George Floyd (and over racially biased lockdown enforcement) was also part of the runup to J6.

Fortunately, the far-right didn't plan PAST the doors of the US Capitol on J6/2021. Had they seated the GOP in the rotunda, driven off the Dems w threats etc, and gavelled the hearing to certify (or not...) the election back into session, they could have overturned the election and declared Trump the winner.

No matter what SCOTUS did with this (ACB and Kavanaugh are there for exactly this), this would have meant some states recognize Trump and some Biden as US President. One pro-Biden military base fired on by a state recognizing Trump and you have 1861 all over again.

Now it is being said a far-right insurgency is guaranteed if they lose in 2024. Since if they win in 2024 we may have to fight an insurgency ourselves to avoid things like LGBTQ folks going to concentration camps, there may be no possible peaceful outcome of the 2024 election left-and it's still a year and a half away.

It can be argued that Atlanta may put this whole mess to the torch now, as for all practical purposes we have been forced into waging an insurgency by armed police violence. Cop City is an explicitly counterinsurgency project, aimed at blocking a repeat of the 2020 Uprising. Therefore, we will fight it until it is either cancelled or destroyed, nothing less now or ever.

In short, the Atlanta Forest may be our Fort Sumter, fired on by neo-Confederates and forcing war.

New, by me: A New York-based 'stalkerware' maker has agreed to notify individuals whose phones were compromised by its mobile surveillance software, including PhoneSpector and Highster.

It's a rare, rare win against stalkerware, following a deal with the New York attorney general's office.
