I just wanted to come on here and say I used to want to be an astronaut, and now I think it's stupid

SWPC is still saying “detrimental impacts” for tomorrow. CMEs too slow. I checked the G4 slides from last year and they didn’t say that. Do they mean sudden loss of GPS forever? Well, there’s always a risk of that. Or did they change the language because of the megaconstellations? I guess it’s that and we’re gonna find out how many satellites literally make impact?

But yeah, it just takes a few solar particles in the wrong places to lose GPS. And all of our modern civilization is built on that. How dumb is that???

But this is kind of funny - the neighborhood cats love visiting my cat so much that even in freak snow conditions they are coming over here at night just to talk to him through the window lol

I heard something in the news about a new astronomical observatory in Iceland and I got excited for a split second (because we basically don’t have an observatory at all). Turns out the new “observatory” is actually… a log wall and a bench?? Ok, then. Will someone please just give me the funding to start science in Iceland???
