Original baddy, alternate image after we played him at the table. It's not often I get to channel Tim Curry at the table, maybe my next bigbad will be based on Pennywise?

The voice for one of my big bads in my current D&D campaign is roughly based on Dr. Frank-N-Furter. So, of course I had to watch Curry a couple of times: https://youtu.be/JWoYy4Ah81s?si=OaCb7Ky5LjR4r1sX

The next recommendation was White and Nerdy, which I couldn’t resist. 2 things from watching it. I was reminded of @jamesdempsey (who also makes me smile) and, I’ve always laughed because I don’t know JavaScript or Klingon, but this time I noticed ‘I do vector calc just for fun’ and I realized this song is about ME!?

Woke up early with sinus headache, bummer. Went into my office started taking care of some random bs I can do with a headache (training). My 15yo startles me with a hello, says I have no school today and I'd rather be developing than sleeping :) He is building a game in Unity. Not good health wise, but so very cool. Takes me back to making a game on my Commodore 64 when I was 16. So much fun to get sucked into 'the zone'
@tg I love the craft, I hate the stuff produced with thoughtlessness. The Ive/Abrams interview at Vanity Fair has some great thoughts about that https://youtu.be/Ey8FzGECjFA?si=h_ESgPMAiq4Y0nvw. But sadly most things are made with thoughtlessness because it’s cheap to not care and expensive to care…

Something else that the Claude Code revolution reminds me of... way back in the day I worked with a gray-beard. He didn't believe in the standard C library, it was slow and stupid and too generic. So he wrote his own bespoke strcmp. It was perfect, and fast, and beautifully elegant. But, I used the std lib and built an entire UI, he had a function. Some days I feel like the gray beard, I'm constantly reminding myself not to be that guy...
@schwa now you’ve ruined my otherwise lovely day…
Now that FB owns Molt or whatever they are one step closer to all of FB being bots talking to each other with no actual people. I wonder how long advertisers will continue to pay for a hell-scape of AI slop entertaining and engaging AI bots?
I don't often engage with spammer texts but when I do I say completely ridiculous stuff just to see what happens and how long they will stay engaged.
@thomasfuchs I've found orbital mechanics to be a field that general math/physics education does not prepare the normal person to understand. Perhaps Kerbal helps? Not sure... Movies/tv make it seem like flying a fighter jet...

me to Claude: prefer correctness tests to completion tests i.e. count > 4 should not be in an assertion instead count == 6 should be.

Claude: okie dokie boss

some time later, me to Claude, I don't trust that implementation, could you evaluate the tests?

Claude: the tests are mostly vacuous count > 0, should I replace them with correctness assertions?

me: going all YosimiteSam on Claude... $@%^! yes, and don't ever write tests like that again
