A 'fun' game, for any post on LinkedIn gushing about how generative #AI is replacing illustrators, take a screenshot of the image and use Google Lens to find it's likely source material. The #art created by humans will be better than when the AI regurgitation

***** Google's "Web Environment Integrity" Proposal *****

I'm getting a lot of queries about #Google's "Web Environment Integrity" proposal, and I'm seeing a variety of posts about it, some of which could best be characterized as, well, rants.

It's a complicated engineering proposal and most notably it is in very early stages with a large number of explicitly open questions.

There are very real problems that the proposal seeks to address, and concerns seem to mostly fall into worries about collateral negative effects as some observers see them.

I frankly do not fully understand the proposal at this time -- as I said it is early and incomplete -- and I can't even begin to render any kind of verdict yet. I have asked Google for more information and communications about this.

In the meantime, I would suggest that hyperbolic attacks on Google (or any firm) relating to projects put forth for public comment will mainly serve to discourage that level of openness in the future, and are not recommended.

I'll say more about this proposal as I learn more and as appropriate. Thanks. -L
