Sometimes it is easy to forget how alive everything is when stuck behind a desk feeling all but. I'm sitting on my patio listening to bird song and watching the light from the sun illuminate each blade of grass. This is all while reading my book and contemplating why it is we do the things we do.
We’ve officially made the first harvest of our basil plant my husband get by trading our neighbor some fresh bread and bagels. We grew the plant from trimmings.
Nothing quite like having a water leak coming in from the upstairs apartment into your own. They don't believe it is the upstairs dishwasher, but it has to be something. The roof is bubbling down and there is moisture. Oh, did I mention this is the third time we've had a water leak while living here. The first two were really bad, and thankfully this one seems to be minor in comparison.
I recently learned about the OpenDyslexic font, and I’m very surprised by how well it helps ease some of my discomforts with reading. I believe it combined with narration and an easily accessible dictionary the gateway to many more worlds has opened. I now have a growing list of books I want to read, and that now includes novels which I usually try to abstain from. I’m excited to try them again with these newer tools at my disposal. Any reading suggestions?
It might not seem like it but this device is old in terms of technology. It’s the third generation kindle and it is responsible for helping to grow a passion for books that even seasoned professionals could not spark. It was not judge mental when I did not know a word, it just told me the definition. It has accompanied me in one way or another for about 10 years. I’m grateful for what it has done and for what it continues to do.
The inter-connectivity of all of life even at the scale of an single person is profound to think about. From the book I started reading last night, to the breakfast I mindfully ate, to listening to myself better, to the feeling of compassion for the food I've been blessed with, to the transformative knowledge that swiftly follows. Their connection is not lost, but has been found in the present moment.
