The Supreme Court of Poland has just ruled that changing legal gender will now proceed without trial.

The old system was not actually written in the law, but the route was to sue one's parents (the logic being that someone is legally responsible for assigning the person's gender wrong at birth). Which was humiliating, stupid, complicated and made no sense.

I am shocked. I am floored. This caught me completely off guard.

Needless to say, this is a HUGE step forward, even if a lot remains to be done.
