one of the easiest things to do for cis men to support trans people is wear nail polish.

It sounds kind of silly but it’s true; like pronouns in your bio this creates a cover not just so trans people don’t have to out themselves (if they don’t want to)

it normalises a very modest form of gender non conformity

it communcates certain a level of safety

and if there’s people that get upset about it, a cis guy is in a much better position to deal with that than a trans or queer person is. Plus we find out who the fuckheads are that we need to avoid.

@alfredtwu I’m sad. We keep being forgotten. Disabled people were the first killed en masse in 1930s Germany, we’re the first attacked by the right (eg we’re their targets in the Christmas to New Year slow news cycle) and the least likely to be remembered.

@alfredtwu Apart from the message, that I wholeheartedly agree with, this post also shows one huge benefit of good media captions:

I looked at the picture for 2 seconds and was ready to scroll on, but then I saw the caption and spent a lot longer reading it than I did looking at the picture. In this case it may not have given me new information, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
In this fast paced society we need more deceleration like that. So thank you!

@alfredtwu at first glance I liked this, it’s true that if trans people lose their rights, gay rights would probably be next in the firing line.

@alfredtwu people forget that if the state can legally abuse one group of Americans then they can legally abuse all Americans. It not just be the trans people getting genitalia checks in the bathroom. It wont just be the gays barred from libraries. It won’t just be women denied bodily autonomony. The law applies to everyone or it applies to no one.
