I'm awsh and I've been a licensed ham since 2016. I'm mostly interested in homebrewing and digital modes. I also collect and repair retro computer gear and other electronic gadgets.

@F4JWJ It was near Atlanta, Georgia. It looks like it might be a Carolina Mantis, but Wikipedia says they only get to about 2.5". This one definitely seemed larger, but that might be faulty memory on my part.

I usually see more of the green Chinese Mantises around here. They like to hang out in the garden and guard my tomato plants.

@F4JWJ He was about four inches, tip to tip. It's the biggest I've seen in a while. I used to see them everywhere, but like the rest of the critters around here, there seem to be less and less every year.
I've got a little visitor today.

Welcome @aa7ee, I've enjoyed your blog and admired your beautiful projects for a long time!
@g0dub I'm just now jumping into #aredn, so I'm not sure how I'll set things up yet, but I'm sure I'll document it on my site at https://awsh.org if you are interested. I just got them flashed with the #aredn firmware and I'll hopefully get them online later tonight when I get them home.

The eBay fairy stopped by and left me a present. Looks like I'll be building an #aredn node and adding it to my #amprnet allocation.
New toy 😁
@dl4mat Thanks. I've never tried PETG. I'll have to pick up a spool. I first tried ABS, but I was having trouble with it warping on the bed while it cooled, so I went with PLA since it's what I had at hand.
So I 3D printed a case for my (tr)uSDX and was outside sanding it when I made the mistake a setting a piece down on my car's hood. The heat immediately warped the plastic and it twisted out of shape. Luckily I was able to basically iron it back flat on the hood of the car, but that's just one more thing I need to take into account with this heat.
