Followgraph for Mastodon is so good I got rate limited by my mastodon instance while following people
@stevelieber Damn!
And that lettering is pretty sweet, too!
@mike @atomicpoet @Hey_Beth @shoq Some numbers:
John Scalzi has 198.1K followers on Twitter, 18K on Mastodon (https://mastodon.social/@scalzi).
Cory Doctorow has 489.5K followers on Twitter, 37K followers on Mastodon (https://mamot.fr/@pluralistic)
George Takei has 3.4M followers on Twitter, 343K on Mastodon (https://universeodon.com/@georgetakei)
I have no idea what their Twitter follower counts were before Muskification, but those are 90+% drop-offs from current follower counts.

@atomicpoet @Hey_Beth @mike @shoq Someone motivated by engagement only has an incentive to switch if the engagement they get on the new platform is at least as high as the engagement they’re *currently* getting on birdsite, even if the current birdsite engagement is lower than it used to be.
Someone with a *big* audience on Twitter probably isn’t going to see those numbers on Mastodon.

2. The first time you submit a reply to someone’s post, it pops up a box that asks for your cell number, so they can confirm you’re a person. But then it drops the text of your reply, so you have to type it in again.
3. All hashtags are coerced to lower-case. Tough luck, blind users using text-to-speech!
Just made a #Spoutible account (https://spoutible.com/avram), and I’m already hating it.
1. When you join, it presents you with two buttons: Join and Find Followers, or just Join. (Might not be the exact wording.) I assumed the Find Followers one would give me an interface to look for people and follow ’em. Nope! It assigns you 20 random users and subscribes you to them!

@tzimmer_history Do you really think “illiberal” is strong language? You say “illiberal” or “anti-liberal” and most of the country will hear “conservative” and shrug.
“Authoritarian” is a good choice. Maybe “tyrannical” also? “A tyrannical governor is ruthlessly pursuing…”
