Open-source projects drive decentralized production. Decentralized production leads to local self-sufficiency. Self-sufficiency leads to agency. Agency leads to equality. This is the opposite of the global civilization that drives toward monopolization.

Many famous works entered the Copyright Public Domain today.

First principles thinking is a powerful tool but it needs to be rooted in battle-tested axioms and used together with pattern matching, otherwise it can fails miserably.

How First Principles Thinking Fails

Thinking is split roughly into pattern matching against experience, and reasoning from first principles. Here's one argument for why you need both.

An inspiring presentation by David Ha and the Hugging Face team! Totally agree, we're in the verge of using collective intelligence together with ML models to create incredible creative games/apps.

And everything is happening in the last months, not years!

@fchollet your last newsletter article is so 🎯 I couldn't agree more!

"People are not replaceable cogs in service of a codebase. They’re the only real vector of success you have. Certainly, like in the ship of Theseus, you can replace one person or ten without meaningfully damaging the machine. But take away too many, and the stack falls down. All you will be left with is static codebase built for a world that will soon no longer exists."

I'm posting #Mastodon meta now.

It's super interesting to see how @opencollective is funding the development of the Fediverse. I feel like I could set up a project there and attract some investment. It's an attention economy, I guess. But one where every hashtag could become a fundable project!
