People laugh at this photo. Why does the Pope need security? Isn't he protected by God or something?

I used to laugh too.

Now, I don't laugh. The fact of the matter is, the Pope is protected by security guards, and sometimes bulletproof glass. Where did all this come from? He certainly didn't work for it. The answer is, it came from God. God blessed the Pope by creating a bunch of credulous suckers who want easy answers and are willing to part with their money. #God works in mysterious ways.

As a hacker working as a Software Developer, I get paid one salary, but I play two roles simultaneously — writing good code, and behaving for eight straight hours, over the phone, chat, and voice and video calls, that I am a good Software Developer. Those are two very different things. It's acting in live theater for 40 hours a week. It's Blue Man Group. It's juggling while singing. I want more money!

The thing that drives me nutso about climate change is that many of the necessary changes could be awesome. A society with more leisure time, cleaner air, closer connections to friends and family who live nearer to you, more exercise, more technological innovation, more jobs, more fairness, more nature… most people would benefit from these changes.
