Attached: 1 image One thing that came out of my research for Beyond Bézier is the Stroke Scribbler, a @RoboFont extension that creates a Noordzij-style cross-hatch to de-emphasize shapes’ outlines. It’s been programmed by (the best and coolest) @arthurfontzarelli and I’m super happy about that. It is available on Github: https://github.com/ECAL-Beyond-Bezier/StrokeScribbler-roboFontExt

I’ve learned that Robert Slimbach — one of our greatest living type designers — is being let go by Adobe. He’s near retirement, but I’m disappointed he’s being shown the door rather than leaving on his own terms. To me, it’s more evidence of Adobe’s waning interest in original type development.
Longboard 1.3.9. In which @arthurfontzarelli does some plumbing to make Longboard compatible with exciting upcoming buttonsin DSE2. And a new contextual menu for copying previews while exploring the designspace. Update in Mechanic. That is all.

I updated my website as an excuse to use Electric Blue from @fontspectrum and to announce that I'm available for freelance type design work.

If you're curious my portfolio is available upon request.

These served me well: classic Python books, but now they have to go. If anyone is interested in recent Pythonic history: pick up in The Hague. Otherwise these tomes will be resigned to the old paper. Box set. No shipping. #python #oreilly #reference #code #history

I spoke with Mint about her beginnings, about Thai and Latin scripts, studying and working far from home, and her typeface Pristine.

Regarding speaker fees, I once learned a good rule of thumb from @jessicahische: ask for 2 x the ticket price of a conference.
I think she even used 3 x in her example, and I have used 1 x in the past. But it nicely makes a point that you shouldn’t speak for free at a for-profit event. And you totally can at a free one if your circumstances allow it.

Also, don’t speak at events where you have to pay for your own ticket. Unless it’s a really nice community event you love.

I am struggling to understand why tickets for the Font Business Conference are so expensive. The conference is taking place entirely online but the *early bird* tickets are still £575 ($750).

I really hope they are at least paying the speakers very well.
