Feeling pretty good about the Flowmetal model! As I'm writing out a bunch of example flows to convince myself that I've covered everything it's basically staying in-bounds of what I knew I was going to need. And I've yet to have to change the operational semantics.

Seriously the new robot does splendid work. This is surfacing a cutting board to plane. It’s weird to have moved all the stress of not fucking up workpieces to initial stress of having gotten the machine setup and the math right. Doing test air cuts helps.

Spent months on a detour building a CNC machine. Feels good to have a machine that’s more than 10x as repeatably precise as I am up and running.

It took some doing but I’m now the proud owner of a registered and serialized #voron #3dprinter build! Time to use the first machine to fabricate two more. Big fan of the Voron Design slogan “We build space shuttles with gardening tools so anyone can have a space shuttle of their own”. Need to look at multi material eventually too.

Drawer system finishing touches - adding a folding sink and through hole, and working up a custom crate for the water jug and battery pack

Drawer system build update: I had the idea to 3d print some 1/16” thick shims which have absolutely trivialized building and mounting drawers to my satisfaction. To the point that I went mad with hubris and felt confident enough to build a stepped rather than box drawer because I could fit the pieces up with shims for spacing and be confident. Worked great. Big drawer which was the last carpentry basically done now. May do nicer faces eventually. #theshop #woodworking #3dprinting

Update on the drawer system build — apparently I can manage less than 1/16” over 48” with the saw guide. Absolute stoked. Just an enormous improvement over my previous precision with sheet work. Knocked out all the big cuts today, still got some sheet breakdown to do with the table saw tomorrow before I start on assembly #woodworking #theshop

I cannot tell you how nice it feels to put a staple in the final design book. Five pages of drawings and two pages of cultist. Ready to go. Just need materials.
