@teresamacedo @aram thanks for asking. I'm going to use the migration tool, but if it doesn't take, please do follow me there.
Friends: I'll be changing instances very soon, moving over to the brand new aoir.social server which I've been helping to set up. Should be a seamless transition, but I'm writing this to confirm it's legit: @aram is indeed me. #aoir

Welcome to Aoir.social!

This server is intended to be for members of the Association of Internet Researchers.

As of now (March, 2023) we're only letting the folks who volunteered to be moderators join. Our idea is to give them time to learn the system and best practices.

After that, we want to let AOIR members sign up in waves.

Our goal includes having our server be a good "fedizen" on the fediverse, and of course to explore this new world beyond corporate social media.

@Gartenberg but do you really feel sorry for anyone who would willingly put money in Melon Husk's pockets in 2023?
@sjhuskey the "sign on" link appears to be broken
@kfitz totally. And equally true for fiction and nonfiction.

I realize that these #Florida #Education bills are bad faith fascist fear-mongering & don't have to make sense but I'm stumped about how you can simultaneously *require* the "studies of this nation's historical documents & *outlaw* teaching how slavery & patriarchy played an integral role in the creation of our social institutions.

Also as @jeffjarvis said, tenure isn't a "perk." Its a bulwark protecting academic freedom & an economic offset for low faculty pay.

Florida bills would ban gender studies, limit trans pronouns, erode tenure

A raft of laws proposed by the GOP majority would transform how Florida educates its citizens.
