I’m learning about insurance coverage for mental health, and specifically about what defines something as medically necessary. Any advice on where to look for a primer or other info on how to get mental health care approved?

Thanks in advance!

Cricut cutting machines, ubiquitous in schools, libraries and makerspaces, can be used to make embossed or stenciled #TactileGraphics. A Braille embosser costs at least $1500 — Cricuts cost a fifth of that or less. Today I learned that I can handle the hardware and make great stencils: all that holds a Blind #maker back is a set of unlabeled controls in the software. Does anyone know somebody at #Cricut I could talk to about improving #accessibility? Boosters beloved on this one!

- Recommend smaller servers, specific warning about big servers to vulnerable people.
- Mention fedifence.social.

Nikodemus' Guide to Mastodon

Google Docs

I'm noticing a lot of "I'm bored of Mastodon, I'm going back to #Twitter" posts.

In case they are genuine, here's what I've found works:

⚫ try to post content, not complaints. People want to engage with you, not your gripes

⚫ try to learn. If you're putting in an effort to be part of the community, the community will welcome you

⚫ Try to avoid posting links to tweets, definitely don't cross-post. People want Mastodon content

⚫ Reply! Reply! Reply! Everyone wants to know someone's reading and considering their content, even you

⚫ Don't lurk. Many of us check for a filled out profile, avatars, and posts, before we follow someone back

⚫ Chill. It's a big new world that doesn't serve everything up to you

⚫ Avoid the trap of rebuilding Twitter here

Feel free to link this post to people struggling with Mastodon. It's what I've found works, and may not work for everyone

It never fails. Every CBS Sunday Morning segment makes me tear up. Is it the honesty?

Colorado Springs was just more than a short week ago, but amid never-ending gun violence, it feels like a lifetime ago.

Boston doctor has a message for LGBTQ+ community in wake of Colorado shooting

“You are loved. So very much," Boston's Dr. Scott Hadland shared following the Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ nightclub shooting.

"We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love... We thank you for setting us at tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy & delight us. We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone... Grant us the gift of your Spirit... (that we) may give thanks to you in all things." – Book of Common Prayer.

People like to make fun of those who just post regular updates about their lives or small random or silly thoughts on social media, but those are my favorite kinds of posts. There was a time when it used to be mostly that. I mean, of course post what you want, but not everything has to be some well-thought out or deep meaningful commentary.
