When @pluralistic first proposed this kind of idea, I honestly didn't think it could work. We (Canadians) would have to make an unfathomably big change to how we treat our US relationship.

We can't just make a short term change to oppose new (dumb) economic policy—we have to commit to being on the right side of this, no matter what policy shenanigans happen next. It's long-term thought.

But the policy is no longer rational, and I think it's time to take this seriously.

Looks like some people at HEC #Montreal have put together a dashboard with data (primarily demand/production) from our electricity utility, Hydro #Quebec.

Pretty interesting; especially given the excess demand this past week.

An acceptable use of AI would be to scan the Wikipedia “<month> <year> in History” summary pages and compose extra verses for “We Didn’t Start the Fire” in perfect metre and rhyme.

Today, my wife and I started SHIFT, a FREE bike share program in #Yellowknife . Participants borrow either a city bike, city e-bike, cargo bike, or e-trike for 2 weeks to test out living a more car free lifestyle. Hopefully, by the end of the 2 weeks, folks have realized it's not only easy to travel by bike, but you feel better, lose weight, save money, help the environment, and have fun!

This is made possible by the GNWT Healthy Choices Fund, & in partnership with #NWT Recreation & Parks Association, Overlander Sports, Signed, & many others. Check out our website, & if you know a Yellowknifer, encourage them to make the SHIFT! #BikeTooter #bike #BikeCommuting

Attached: 1 image To use the Montreal subway, you tap a paper ticket against the turnstile and it opens. But how does it work? And how can the ticket be so cheap that it's disposable? I opened up the tiny NFC chip inside to find out more... 1/15

I read “Inclusive Transportation: A Manifesto for Repairing Divided Communities” by Veronica Davis, & I flew through it because it was so interesting! It’s of good advice for everyone from engineers to planners & advocates. I will try to use its concepts in my safe streets advocacy

Again:
"Hundreds of tractors sealed off streets close to the EU headquarters to protest what they see as excessive red tape and unfair trading practices."

Without their tractors, hundreds of farmers would look like a smallish crowd. Nothing like the Fridays For Future demonstrations where tens of thousands take to the streets.

And nobody at Fridays For Future throws Molotov cocktails.

Brussels: Farmer protests turn violent, as EU ministers meet

Police fired tear gas and deployed water cannons to keep protesting farmers at bay as agriculture ministers from the bloc met a few steps away to revise proposals to ease the crisis.
