1/3 I just finished reading “Native Seattle: Histories from the Crossing-Over Place” by Coll Thrush. I was thoroughly interested as I read about how indigenous peoples have adapted and survived while maintaining an important active presence in Seattle society ever since the arrival of white settlers almost 2 centuries ago.

Just finished reading “Traffic: Why We Drive the Way We Do” by Tom Vanderbilt, and even as someone who rarely drives, I found it very interesting. The author covers many elements that affect driving, from how traffic congestion forms in specific scenarios to differences in driving styles across cultures to our usually overinflated biases of our individual driving skills. It’s a good read.

There are just a handful of Saturdays in any given year with the kind of perfect weather that we had today. Spent the whole day outside - farmers market, coffee shop stop, lunch on a patio, and found some moderately comfy chairs to read. Finished the latest Thursday Murder Club book (enjoyed it). #BikeTooter #Coffeeneuring #Coffeeneuring2025 #BookTooter

So my last #library #book was The Steampunk Trilogy by Paul DeFilippo. 3 short stories in one book. The first two stories were positively delightfully bonkers stories. Never knew what kind of ridiculousness you'd find by the end of the page! The third story...I couldn't finish. The pacing was off and I just couldn't get into it. I did feel like every story I had to wait a little bit to become invested in the characters and their story so maybe I would've found joy if I stuck with it but I didn't.

But all had really fun tie-ins to real history and real historical figures, including a young Queen Victoria, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Walt Whitman, Fredrick Douglas and more, but also events such as the Great Molasses Flood

Super neat book and the stories I did read were well worth it!
