I have no idea whether in time I will have the same breadth and diversity of interactions here in the fediverse that I am used to from the birdsite (and obviously there are some interactions I would rather not replicate).
But I find it extraordinary how fast a part of my personal social media network is reconstituting here. And I love it in part because it frankly feels empowering.

Free advice for people who aren't paid to watch cable news: Turn it off, log out, read a book or something, see where things are when you wake up in the morning. You aren't learning anything useful right now.

Here's a small tangible thing you can do to help people stay in line -- this non-profit sends foot out to people waiting in long lines for voting. I just donated enough for one large pizza. I would also suggest "Jack In The Box tacos to the Polls" (2 for 99 cents!)

Saw somebody on The Bad Place saying that joining Mastodon and finding all your people again feels a bit like surviving a zombie apocalypse and your heart lifting every time one of your friends walks into the compound, battle-scarred but alive. I can’t find the original tweet now, so I’m sorry not to give credit. But I keep feeling like that whenever someone I recognise pops up.
