Pocket Casts for iOS 18 on the left, Apple Podcasts for iOS 26 on the right.

Between the illegible glass and the tab bar that disappears on scroll, I honestly have no idea who can take a look at this and say "Yes, that'll do it. That's good."

Liquid Glass is a mess so far, *especially* on iOS. Actually pushing me to use apps without Liquid Glass.

Great news: Instapaper will replace the (dead) Pocket integration on Kobo e-readers! https://blog.instapaper.com/post/789685899750424576/instapaper-rakuten-kobo-integration

the reason there can be trans tech workers is that trans sex workers fought for our rights

we all need to stand up for sex workers, we can't allow ourselves to be embarrassed about it. respectability is a trap.

Beta or not, when Apple shows before and afters on their own website, it’s totally fair to knock on them for legibility.

I have to wonder: Who at Apple really thinks this example is the best representation? And whoever knows it isn’t the best, why isn’t it addressed *before* the reveal?

Happy pride to anyone else who before they came out was like, “Oh I’m just a really good ally. I really care about those gays and their rights. It just makes me so mad how they aren’t treated equally. I’m just really viscerally empathetic”

I have been not applying to Canonical for a couple of years now. I’ve talked to folks who work there, and the common threads seem to be “I started working here before the process got stupid” and “yeah the CEO fucks it all up but we still manage to do good things sometimes.”

Neither of these makes me want to apply, despite their volume of postings and the docs manager’s vociferous defense of their practices.

General PSA: don’t apply for a job at Canonical. Do NOT apply for a job at Canonical. Treat the blatantly artificially enormous number of job openings they post as the mirages of trickster fae. They are unhinged. Mark Shuttleworth is unhinged. They will drag you through the mud, disrespect you and your time, and definitely not give you a job. This article I saw today is like the thirteenth of its kind that I personally have seen https://dustri.org/b/my-experience-with-canonicals-interview-process.html
