@thelinuxEXP Not an ultrawide monitor user but got a 32” 4K monitor and cannot live without centered windows, having to drag windows from the top left to the bottom or middle every time is annoying to say the least.

@Echo5 @tester1121

if you factor in the pricing of just a competitors VPN then Proton beats them hands down.

Using their unlimited bundle and the password manager works very well.

@thibaultamartin @gnome @nextcloud @flathub Used this a fair bit too, nice app and works well

The amount of misogynistic comments on my latest video is just off the charts.

You can doubt the new CEO for her skills, her vision, experience, or the companies she worked at. But saying « another woman CEO, Mozilla is dead » is just… wow.

It’s 2024, people. Seriously. WTF.

I don’t understand why people who send me emails to promote their software or products expect me to answer them, even just to tell them I’m not interested.

They sent me something, without any invitation. They want to sell me something, or get me to promote their product. Why would they feel I have an obligation to let them know I don’t want to? Just accept that no answer after a few weeks means « no », and stop wasting time and energy on emails.

With the recent moves from #Twitter, #Reddit, and even #Youtube, I think it’s becoming clear that ads are not a sustainable business model in the long run (and yes, I know I run a YouTube channel funded by ads 😅)

I took a look at a few examples, at how this decline is also making the web worse for everyone, at alternative platforms, and tried to imagine what an internet without ads to fund content creation and big platforms could look like:

The AD-BASED internet is DYING, and it's getting WORSE in the process

The double-whammy of #Twitter refusing to share tweet content with non-logged-in users and #Reddit’s killing of third-party apps tonight should lead to a large influx of new #Fediverse participants. Looking forward to seeing the community here grow.

🚨scoop by @miasato: Reddit’s CEO addressed the ongoing subreddit blackout in a memo to employees yesterday, telling them it will “pass” but to be “mindful” of wearing company gear in public in the meantime 👀 https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/13/23759559/reddit-internal-memo-api-pricing-changes-steve-huffman
Reddit CEO tells employees that subreddit blackout ‘will pass’

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman says in an internal memo that the latest protest over API changes “will pass.” He also warned employees about wearing Reddit items in public.

Twitter learned, and Reddit is fast learning, that people are not addicted to the platform, they’re addicted to the community they found there. Ruin the community, and people will leave the platform. It really is that simple.
Watching all the folks who signed up for Mastodon accounts, and then ran back to Twitter suddenly showing up here again to talk about how Twitter is down. 😂
