"Seattle has 1.6 million parking spots. More than five parking spots for every household in the city. The total value of those spots...[is] nearly $36 billion"
Useful context when people complain about losing parking to bus/bike lanes or cafe seating.
No Wordle, no Spelling Bee, no morning newsletter, no clicks. Solidarity, always.
Today we were ready to work for as long as it took to reach a fair deal, but management walked away from the table with five hours to go. It’s official: @[email protected] members are walking out for 24 hours on Thursday. We know what we’re worth.

My team at work just launched new research on the #TwitterMigration: We analyze which platforms are growing - especially #Mastodon, #Tumblr & #Post.
We look at which sites users are adding to their Twitter bios, posting to their friends about & downloading apps for.
Please do boost this, and love to hear any comments or feedback on it!

I like Cory Doctorow's @doctorow analysis of how social media giants fall.
In short: in the process of *enshittification* (get on it, New Palgrave), network externalities allow the platforms to capture almost all of the surplus and sell it to advertisers etc, leaving users nearly indifferent about leaving the platform.

If you’ve traveled to Japan, what were your top highlights? My husband and I are taking a long-delayed honeymoon there in May/June. I’ve been to Tokyo (but nowhere else) and he’s never been to Japan at all. What should we do in 10 days there? Got any non-obvious recommendations?
We are into food, drinks, trains, city life, biking, scenic vistas, and interesting experiences. Not so big on shrines/temples/museums though I’m sure we will hit up one or two.
