#WritersCoffeeClub 10/20 Do you agree with Terry Pratchett quote?
Sir Pratchett was a genius in his own right. He was also clearly a jokester. I don't know if he meant it or not, but I don't agree.
Writer's block is real. Our minds hold our stories, but our brains have to deal with a lot of crap, and sometimes it has to prioritize.
I do think some use it as an excuse because they're afraid to start, but that counts as writer's block.
And it can be overcome.
Maybe that's what he meant?
#WordWeavers 10/20. Share something you like and dislike about your first drafts.
I like the general story.
I dislike how one-dimensional my characters always are in the first draft. But it's through the drafting that I discover their full personalities and backstories etc. Dunno why my brain does this, but it's only after I get to the end that I realize the full motivation for a character and then go, "Oooh, so that means..." And they need almost a full rewrite lol
#WritersCoffeeClub 10/19. Do you go to fan conventions or similar?
Yes!
Not, like, booky conventions (maybe one day) but when I lived near Orlando my family went to MegaCon whenever we could.
I loved it! So much fun. Just a bunch of geeks being geeks together. Having fun and wearing funny clothes. It's the best!
I hope to go to something similar again, but I discovered last year that that sort of thing is not great for toddlers. So I'm gonna wait until my daughter's a little older lol
“The Starry Night” Follows Laws of Physics That Weren’t Discovered Yet
Art lovers have long known that the Dutch painter saw the night sky like nobody else — and now scientists know it, too.
Troubled artist or mad scientist? As it turns out, Vincent van Gogh might have been both — a new study reveals that the brushstrokes from his iconic “The Starry Night” (1889) align rather seamlessly with the laws of fluid motion in physics.

#WritersCoffeeClub 10/18. Do you read scripts? Would you try writing a script or screenplay?
Are scripts something people just, like, read?
Honest question. I thought they were wholly utilitarian - they make movies and plays. But do people read them like they read books?
If so this is something I might want to look into. I write my zero draft in script format because I honestly struggle with making descriptions flow in a story and all those dang attributions.
This is intriguing 🤔
#WordWeavers 10/18. How money-savvy is your MC?
Beckett is pretty money-savvy by necessity.
He's homeless (by choice {sort of}) and travels from place to place, working for a place to stay and food for him, his mother and his horse. What little money they have has to be spent carefully.
I can't imagine it's easy, but he managed to keep it up for 5 years, so he must be pretty good at it.
Dropped our ballots off at the Clerk's office this morning. This election is too important to leave anything to chance.
I just wish you got a sticker with your mail -in ballot around here lol Oh well, I'll know in my heart, even if I can't show it off
#WordWeavers 10/17. If you could give life to one of your characters, who would it be and why?
I do give life to my characters, that's what writing is.
#WordWeavers 10/17. If you could give life to one of your characters, who would it be and why?
My first thought is Beckett, but that might just be because he takes up a lot of my mental bandwidth these days.
I think I'd enjoy spending time with Kara. She's fun, and I'd be interested in chatting with her for a while.
Oooo Or Clemens! He's just delightful. I'd love to meet him in person.
This is hard 😅 And ignoring how their disappearances would affect their worlds/stories 😱
Maybe I pass lol
