Today I want to talk about a webcomic I'm very found of who just went to closure : Charity Case.
CW : Homophobia, Transphobia, Polyamory, Queer characters, Very CUTE

It's a story about Julie(n), an artist who doesn't seem to fit anywhere (but who have so much style!), who found a home, friends and more in a shared house.
If starting a band with your roomates sounds like a bad idea, what about flirting with them ?

It's a lovely story about chosen family, polyamory, figuring out gender stuff and more 💜

The pace is very slow, contemplative sometimes, but it fit the story and the style very well, it's very well made and there are some scene who are truly beautiful.

Of course, most of the cast is some flavor of queer, and the story give them time to shine in their own rights. I really recommend it, I was a fan when discovering it on Tapas, but I just discovered the ending today, and it's just so cute and cool 💖

It's only 5$ on itch.io, for 400+ pages (!), but you can also start it for free on tapas if you like, the whole story is up on the site :)

You’re not supposed to fall for your housemates, especially if they’re a couple.

Wildflower, by Cathleen Collins
Pub Date: 15 Aug 2023

So it’s a preview of a title given to me when asking for it at netgalley, to be transparent. It will not change what I’ll say about it :)

As I see it, it’s a Robinson Crusoe kind of book, at least in the first part : the survival of a girl (a woman after a while) almost alone in the forest after a plane crash.
Then, the inevitable clash when comes the civilisation, and how Lily will adapt to it.

And of course, the romance, with a fated lover

I read the book almost in one go, and it was entertaining, but it was lacking in realism in several parts I can’t pin down now.
There is also a huge shift near the end of the story who feels a bit surreal, made up, to let the story advance.

Nevertheless, the romance was good, even if it’s a very slow burn, and even if I wanted them to kiss 100 pages before, the ending is satisfying.

A lesbian Crusoe is a good idea, and I enjoyed it, but to be honest, I can’t really recommand it, it didn’t click with me and even if I’m always up to cheesy lesbian romance, there were too much part feeling surreal that I wasn’t really anchored in the story.

OK, I will still talk about the two books I’ll try to read & review, because it will make it a real goal and not a "I wanna do it buuuuuut".

So, 2 books of various qualities, cover-side at least :

Wildflower, of Cathleen Collins, and The Water Outlaw, of H. L. Huang.

Two books who were inside the LGBTQ+ shelf of netgalley, and the only two that were accepted by the publishers for my small account.

I will not lie, I have already a bias against Wildflower because of the shitty Kindle DRM, and because of the not so good cover, but it should be a simpler read than the other, sooo we’ll see in my state, I’m up for cheesy lesbian romances :D

But PA, you wrote 38 000 words in two days, after a few 1 week break, it's OK to take your time T_T

Yes it's torturous to *know* that I can't read those 38 000 words just yet, but, you work so much every time, please don't strain yourself that much T_T

Blood Canticles T01 - Blood Witch, by Naomi Clark.

OK I know the cover is kinda clickbait and not really interesting (a tipical lesbian surnatural romance really) (others books of the author are worse :p), BUT it was a good read ?

I was ranting about not finding enough queer main characters in urban fantasy, while all the discourse about monsters and outcasts (not the Wednesday kind ty) were pretty queer in itself, well, here it is !

Some tension and murders, a bit of lesbian romance, blood magic, sultry demoness - please take my money !
Tbh, not a huge twist of the genre, cops aren’t bastards here and it lack of other representations, but it was a fun read, and that's just what I was asking for :)

question to @gardener : is it normal that the fandom.garden favicon is the one by default or is it a problem with my cache or something ?

Mooncakes, de Suzanne Walker & Wendy Xu. Langue : anglais.
