Okay, the 7.1 earthquake in California hit just about 100 miles from me. The last 3 hours have been pretty crazy here. My wife has a lot of family in Ridgecrest, right where the earthquakes have been centered, and luckily no injuries or major damage to her family so far. But some of the images and reports out of Ridgecrest so far have been pretty harrowing. With all the aftershocks, this whole area may be in for another long night.

I came across this article the other day and, as a person who is affected by Alzheimer's (my dad), it was an interesting read. It's an exciting time for medical research right now and I hope that will continue. Maybe one day soon we can help prevent things like Alzheimer's and cancer and many other terrible things.
MahnkeThrough the public library's Interlibrary Loan program, I've been able to read many books for "free" (for the price of my tax dollars). These include math books, programming books, and other textbooks. Old and new. The public library is a great resource.
For those few Chelsea FC fans still left out there, I'm not sure what's more depressing, the fact that Chelsea dropped from 4th to 6th place in the PL due the 6-0 loss at Man City yesterday, the 4-0 drubbing by Bournemouth or the 2-0 loss to Arsenal back in late January. That's 12-0 in the last 3 losses....unacceptable. What's the answer? Sack Sarri? Knowing Chelsea, that's coming sooner rather than later. Not sure that's the problem. Higuain will definitely help but who knows

When I was a kid I had always wanted to get a chance to use an Altair and the IMSAI but never did. I did get to use a few of the others I saw in the museum.
