ex-birdsite SRE and unrepentant shitposter

Thinking back to the all-hands AMA with Elon before the purchase was finalized, where someone asked him "what ideas do you have to make Twitter better" and he replied "maybe there's a flag we can add to posts to indicate that they're sarcastic or something".

That was the moment I realized:

"This dude just bought a social media website and doesn't know what /s is.

...we're all fucked."

@brendangregg what's hanging up on your office wall these days?
For pennies a day, you can save a South African child from bankruptcy. Act now, before it’s too late.
An honest-to-goodness captcha I got trying to log into my Amazon Shopping account tonight. us-east-1 is making everyone cranky, it seems.

6 hours?! She's definitely got your pipes. 🎶🎶
Yes, Twitter, we’re all aware of who’s fault it is.

When I was growing up, my best friend and I would hang out and host pretend NPR broadcasts. (On our version of Morning Edition, she was Linda Wertheimer, and I was Robert Siegel.)

The chance to be in an episode of This American Life is beyond anything I could have imagined for myself as a kid.

Grateful to @caseynewton for helping me tell this love story for trust and safety. To my friends and colleagues in internet sanitation: I hope I’ve done you proud.

What I Was Thinking As We Were Sinking - This American Life

It's funny the things that go through your head during a disaster.

All this controller mod nonsense could be solved in software, but every time someone tries to run a tournament with a mod that increases the dashback window from 1 60th of a second to 2 60ths of a second to eliminate the need for finding a controller broken in the exact right way, Nintendo sends lawyers in to shut them down.

I haven't gone all the way through it yet, but what I've read so far I've found very useful - it's focused pretty heavily on low-level datacenter hardware performance, which is Interesting To Me But Maybe Not Other People.
Reading through Understanding Software Dynamics and wow, is this phrase applicable to way more than spinning rust seek times. (Or computing in general.)
