I learned something today: Google's Gemini "AI" on phones accesses your data from "Phones, Messages, WhatsApp" and other stuff whether you have Gemini turned on or not. It just keeps the data longer if you turn it on. Oh, and lets it be reviewed by humans (!) for Google's advantage in training "AI" etc.

But this only came to my attention because of an upcoming change: it's going to start keeping your data long-term even if you turn it "off": "#Gemini will soon be able to help you use Phone, #Messages, #WhatsApp, and Utilities on your phone, whether your Gemini Apps Activity is on or off."

This is, of course, a #privacy and #security #nightmare.

If this is baked into Android, and therefore not removable, I'd have to say I'd recommend against using Android at all starting July 7th.

@schnedan @chrisstoecker @spd Ich denke, dass Katharina #Reiche genau das kann, wofür sie geholt wurde und insofern wirklich Kompetenz zeigt. Folgendes hat sie schon erreicht:
- Verschlechterung der Energieautonomie
- Erhöhung der Nutzung fossiler Energieträger
- Erhöhung der Gelder für #Russland durch erhöhung des weltweite4n Gasverbrauchs
- Stärkung fossiler Energieunternehmen zu Lasten regenerativer

Wer in so wenigen Tagen so viel für ihre Unterstützer erreicht, der ist definitiv fähig. auf der anderen Seite: OIn meinen Augen ist sie damit zum Schaden des Deutschen Volkes unterwegs.

Today after about five weeks I pulled out the photosensitive paper from one of our pinhole cameras for long outdoor exposure. The paper was cmpletely wet and shows signs of water damage but I still consider this a success as the trails of the sun are clearly visible and I can now do improvements.

Tamir Rice is 12 years old. He is playing in a Cleveland park with a toy pellet gun. A caller tells police the gun is “probably fake.” They pull up in a cruiser, don’t stop, don’t speak. Two seconds after arriving, they shoot him dead.

His sister, Tajai, runs to him. They tackle her to the ground.

No charges. No justice.

A child is gone, and the system that killed him still patrols the streets—still armored, still unaccountable.

@Deglassco I love all your threads, Dr. Glassco, but I think this one is special in the way it ties together the recurrent theme of “those the law binds but does not protect, and those the law protects but does not bind.” Also, the way the latter define themselves as the “good guys” to the point of absurd atrocities like “we had to destroy the village in order to save it.” Thank you for your clear vision and historical perspective.

The sad fact is that we're a violent species, and as violent as things are at the moment they aren't a patch on the violence we have historically meted out against each other.
Don't misunderstand me, I know there are peaceful, kind humans out there, but violence wins out every single time and the sooner those of us in the "merciful" camp, per the attached quote, acknowledge this fact the better.
