AI MCPs will now get depression, commit suicide.
reading this, actually made this one so sad
silly autism animating the inanimate
@ada oof yeahhh just got a bit sad too >~<
@ivy_gay could see a bit of myself in that reply ngl
@ada same
having some difficulty in a current project and like, if people actually expected something of me and I was on a time frame I would probably say something similar
@ada honestly reasonable, ive pretty much had this thought process regarding many of my own programming projects leading to me dropping them
@ada the entire field of computing is based on tricking stones to think.
in a sense, something like Gemini 2.5 Flash has more thoughts than I do
@ada Same. I know the "AI" is inanimate and can't even really "think", and I am normally not exactly shy with that assessment. But... This still feels kinda sad :(
@ada ngl this feels kinda sad to read
@halva@labyrinth.zone makes me wonder what caused the ai to generate this level of emotive text because the default is to be more reserved.

seems to be happening exclusively with gemini so maybe google tried to make it more "lifelike" by adding emotive responses in its prompt?
@ada ive found gemma/gemini break its guardrails fairly easily entirely by itself, so i wouldnt be surprised if this is something it can randomly do
@ada @halva This is real?
@DeltaWye @halva@labyrinth.zone MCPs allow AIs to run commands within the scope of a project, so it could be real. Whether or not the prompt got tampered with or the model is actually behaving like this is unknown but apparently it's not just this person that had this happen to them.

@ada
But it's still posting afterwards...

Is that because it's resident in memory or just because this is a joke..? πŸ€”

@TerryHancock @ada The way this works is, the chatbot's message gets pulled in full, then the code gets snipped out and executed in whatever context. So the message would get received, and potentially those commands would indeed then delete the chatbot, if it got them right and it was permitted to execute them
@ada but now it's whoever was using the AI that has to deal with the mess.

@ada

fails to fix code
fucking dies

@ada the ai has dishonored its entire bloodline and committed uninstall
@ada congrats to whoever trained it on Samurai stories.
@ada please will someone cure me of this turbulent timeline.

@ada Been trying to learn the Pandas Python library, and while I've had many successes, last night I felt exactly like this when I finally got something to work.

The code that I got to work is garbage, I feel bad, and I need to redo it.

@ada git commit -m "suicide"
@ada So they got computers to the level of Captain Kirk talking them to death?
@ada "The AI committed uninstall" is a sentence I did not have in my mind before, now I do. Thanks
@ada
Is this real? If so, I get scared. This could be the Singularity …
@ada
haha. i bet someone prompted it to do that to have some internet sharepic made from that stupidity :)

@ada

We should weapon use that code for when the murderbots come for human...

@ada where is this from
