We're a fairly small instance, so the influx of new people in the last few days is unusual for us.

(For those who missed it: https://aethy.com is closing soon, so their members have been looking for new homes. Blorbo.social is one of the places that aethy members have been moving to.)

To people who've been blorbo-havers for a while: if you'd like to help welcome our new blorbo-havers and get them settled in, you may want to:

- Our biggest month for sign-ups was July: 290 new blorbo-havers that month

State of the Blorbo: It's so nice to see all the new people here!

We are currently on toot.io's Growth hosting plan, which means that we can have approximately 2,500 active users. Lots of room for expansion still. https://toot.io/pricing.html

If/when we get to 2,500 active users, I suspect it would be best to encourage creation of new instances rather than trying to keep increasing the size of this one. (It would suck if Blorbo.Social got too big to moderate effectively.)

You can filter posts with a particular hashtag out of your Home feed. Here's a good short guide to setting up filters: https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2022/12/a-quick-guide-to-filters-on-mastodon/

If you want, you can choose to follow any or all of these hashtags so that they display in your Home feed.

Click on a hashtag, then select the Follow Hashtag option. In most clients, it looks like a person with a plus (+) symbol overlaid.
