What I will say though is that Roto Force is still my main source of income, *somehow*.
Also if one is truly independent, it's much easier, there's less things to consider. But with the Roto Force Crunchyroll deal and Mosa Lina Switch Release there are NDAs and other companies interests to consider and that makes it all a bit more dicey and I need to be careful of what I share. The truth is I'm not as independent as I'd like to be or might seem.
I've been less transparent about my indie gamedev finances recently, but not because I don't want to, but because it's getting really difficult to do it properly. The money the game makes, the money I receive and the money that's left over after taxes and revshares are all different things. And money the game makes in one month might not reach me until a few months later, so it gets all very complicated to properly attribute and account for.
Making things containing secrets is tough because you gotta suppress the urge to tell everyone about the secrets

So the rule was, if there's a dog, you should be able to pet it. And this got dumbed down to, you should add a dog so it can get pet. No, you misunderstood. The point is your interactions should reflect the reality of the game space; it's bigger than dogs, it's about whatever populates the environment. If there's a couch, you should be able to sit on it. If there's a light switch you should get to flick it. Anyway if you equip a hat in Death Stranding 2 you get a choice
