Excellent interview about the chilling effects Covid can have on any healthy person. This should be a wake-up call for anyone who has slipped into complacency. It's not too late to take precautions like mask-wearing and ventilation. Don't wait for the govt to tell you so!

The personal face of the hundreds of thousands with Long Covid

Six years after the country went into its first pandemic lockdown, new data shows the impact of Long Covid on hundreds of thousands of Kiwis, but what, if anything, has changed for Long Covid patients and their treatment?

sorry no more holidays named after men, just to be on the safe side. no buildings or statues either. it will save us work in the long run.

Six years ago
at this pandemic’s start
I hoped
that it would teach us
to take care of each other
to keep things from getting worse.

Six years later
as this pandemic continues
I worry
that it has mainly taught us
to stare at our screens
as things keeps getting worse.

3-minute advocacy opportunity for abolitionists: Help incarcerated folks in Illinois get parole faster! Sometimes, when people get convictions, they face separation from their families for years. There’s a new bill that aims to create a system for reviewing people for parole so they won't languish in jail for as long. Only 5 hours left to mark yourself as a proponent by creating a witness slip! Due at 5 pm TODAY. You don’t have to be an IL resident to fill out a slip!

I dreamt a time traveler from the past came to my house and marveled at my HEPA filter and said “I wish we had this lifesaving technology in the 1800s, everything would be different.” And I had to tell him that we have this tech but the government and most people don’t use it #covid19

“I don’t consider myself COVID cautious. I consider myself COVID competent,” Zebrowski said. “Cautious would imply that I have an unreasonable fear of something. I do not have an unreasonable fear of this disease.”

How immunocompromised Americans stay cautious of COVID-19 as most move on

People with immune system health problems continue to take precautions against COVID-19 five years into the pandemic. The threat of infection is a governing force in their lives while others speak of the coronavirus in the past tense. They protect themselves from the virus with masks and isolate themselves in small family bubbles. In online support groups, they trade research about the danger of repeat infections and cognitive impairment. They miss the empathy they felt during the early days of the pandemic. Some have lost friendships, but they strive to maintain the social ties important to mental health.
