Exploring some of the highways and many of the byways in West Yorkshire and further afield, on a bike. To see what I can see.
In the lead-up to this post & as a direct result of my exchange with the Nat Police Chiefs' Council, I believe at least 2 police forces in England stopped using GDPR as an excuse re Op Snap reports, but more needs to happen & YOUR help is needed: https://www.willcycle.com/2023/06/27/truth-matters/

Truth matters - WillCycle

UK police love to hide behind GDPR as an excuse, or simply by saying cyclists who reported close passes weren't victims of crime, but does that check out?

“Why not?...Nothing’ll happen to them.”

They should carve that in stone and stick it over the door on every Garda station and every court house in the country.

A stream of private vehicles continues to flow through College Green, despite council’s restrictions

A council official said it was up to Gardaí to enforce the 24/7 ban. Gardaí have not responded to queries about what they’re doing to enforce it.

This reality check is brought to you as a public service announcement.

Still can’t get over the fact that an editor of the Financial Times said that we need to do away with #capitalism in order to deal with the #climate. If that’s not a sign of mainstream economics/finance finally waking up to the reality of the situation we’re in, I don’t now what is.

Important walking, cycling and public transport improvements at Bishopsgate to be made permanent

PN-078 In August 2020, TfL introduced changes along the A10 Bishopsgate to make it easier to walk, cycle and use public transport     TfL launched a consultation in January 2022 asking people to have their say on proposals to make the changes permanent   Data shows that bus journey times have significantly improved since the scheme was introduced and that on average 7,500 people are cycling along the road every day   Enabling more people to walk and cycle is vital to a healthier and more sustainable transport network for all Londoners

My little patch of "mostly leave it and see what happens" garden is developing, with a lot more colour since the end of May and the buddleia just starting to flower There's always something flying about around here and it's quickly become my favourite spot to just sit and look.

Great news from the European Parliament! MEPs vote to pass the Nature Restoration Law. All Irish MEPs voted for it in the end despite the misinformation some politicians were spreading here.
