I thought I would finally get the first Mac I ever owned onto #GlobalTalk for #MARCHintosh by picking up a set of (cheap) adapters to go from mini-DIN-8 (female) to DB-9 (male). While I can see traffic being sent and received from the AsantePrint box that connects the Mac over LocalTalk, no zones are visible and I suspect that I will have to make a crossover connection for the two essential pins. Ugh. So close.
@theirongiant @europlus Post your cool analog clocks!
@kalleboo Is this a possible bug in TalkCrawler Lite 1.1? There seems to be an ImageWriter in the "LikesOldMacs" zone, as shown in Chooser, but no icon shows up next to that item in TCL and it can't be clicked.

Apple bags from the mid '80s and mid '90s respectively, when its products were sold by authorized dealers. In the '00s, the bags lost all their color and the apple logo turned gray.

@kalleboo I notice that TalkCrawler Lite is identifying my arm64 node as Linux with a penguin icon. Ahem. It is not running Linux. It is running NetBSD.

I'm guessing you must be looking for the presence of a `netatalk` type entity? Is there a more generic "unix" icon that could be used instead, maybe something that looks like a terminal prompt?

Finally found my collection of assorted PhoneNet boxes... but sadly, they all use mini-DIN8 connectors. I had a DB-9 one for my 512Ke but can't find it. Going to have to look for (or make) an adapter...

Pulled an iBook out of the pile of old computers to make sure it still boots. It does, and it's able to get on #GlobalTalk running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. The default Flurry screensaver is certainly a blast from the past.
Ah, WebObjects. This set of software frameworks was used to build enterprise-level websites, the iTunes Store being a notable example. 4.5 was the first version to "only" cost $699 instead of the $50,000 that NeXT used to charge. And the last version to use Objective-C... it all got rewritten in Java for the 5.0 release, beginning a slow decline until it was officially discontinued in 2016.

@smallsco This print came out nicely on the ImageWriter.

@1Bit @billgoats More ImageWriter printouts arrived today! Thanks. I feel like the day is coming when I am going to be asked for identity verification on the internet, and now I will have this license to present.
