Pro tip for repairing things with #3dprinting: flatbed scanners! You probably still have one somewhere, they allow for precise measurements of complex geometries, and can usually fit larger objects than your printer. It often works even if the bottom surface isn't perfectly flat. Most of them shine light from the side, so rotating objects to get better contrast may help.

German Elections: Did the Eastern Bloc Vote Radically? Not Exactly

The German parliamentary elections were held on Sunday. At first glance, it may seem that former East Germany has become radicalized, but this is quite a distorted view.

Huh, Conway’s Game of Life is surprisingly quick to implement in numpy once you find the right methods.
Again, thank you Wikipedia.
Happy Halloween! 🎃
Wie immer: Danke, Wikipedia.

CenterNegative is quite common on traditional Japanese Electronics.
The car makers in Japan just kept going with it for a few years after Ford&Crysler went to ChassisOnGround.
Photo shows a current(!) Brother P-Touch label printer.
@adorfer @DK4HAA @scy @__michaelg I can confirm that. Very common with Japanese devices...

@scy @__michaelg I wonder why center-negative is so common in audio equipment, my guitar pedals all have center-negative...

"chassis-ground on plus" was the standard for cars, trucks and tractors in the US into the 1950ies, so did the (at that time) non-stereo-car-stereos ;-) which were tube radios.
Companies with "car radio" roots just reused their existing schematics/function blocks for guitar amplifiers.
And since "preserving/remodeling the good old xyz-sound" is a thing on guitar amps, keeping the legacy designs of the 1950ies alive as much as possible is a thing i can relate to.
