fountain pens are my new special interest

I envy anybody who can answer this.

Shout-out to the #Pilot #Prera fountain pen for having that 70s retro vibe -- and that 70s #PocketPen energy that usually costs far more than this one. It's big enough for me to use uncapped, but small enough to *almost* rival a #Kaweco Sport.

#PilotPrera #FountainPen

@paradoxmo when it comes to shimmer and sheen, does bigger nib = more apparent?
@paradoxmo @cjammet oh thank goodness. I can bear buying a cheap copy of a big company's pen, but I would definitely prefer to support smaller businesses when possible.
@paradoxmo Even though it probably wouldn't be my cup of tea, that ink looks really striking in its container. Maybe I'm just not familiar with seeing that type.

@cjammet a random no-name company, copy a good design? Say it ain't so!

Unfortunately, despite the materials and a pretty decent screw action (it's actually easier to put together than the Lilliput), two of the three knockoffs have developed an affinity for burping ink. Unless I somehow screwed up refilling brand new cartridges, I think it might be a cheap pen thing.

So I'll have to keep the Schon name in my pocket (pun intended) if these ones continue misbehaving

I've got 6 small #FountainPen's now and I'm not sure how to classify them. Here they are, roughly from largest to smallest:

Small #PocketPen (fit full sized cartridge)
• Pilot Prera, nice and new
• Teiken double-sided pocket pen, circa 1970s

Very small (still supports a #converter)
• Kaweco Sport
• Jinhao 82, a Sailor 11 (mini) knockoff

Almost too small (int'l #cartridge only)
• Kaweco Lilliput
• No-name brass/wood thing that costs under $5 each in quantities of 3-5

@ridetheory you're not wrong but I try to keep my friends happy 😜

There are some half decent gel pens out there though.

@cyprianbeaze you read my mind. It was an A2 I had given them and not an A1.
@raineer I imagine fountain pens and foundries don't usually mix.
