Here we go again. After #RVA was rocked by a particularly loud but not actually severe thunderstorm early this morning, SPC has upgraded today's severe risk to enhanced. The time frame for severe storms is 4-7pm and the main threats are damaging winds and large hail. #vawx
Some nasty storms in the #RVA area. In a universe where Elon Musk never bought Twitter, I’d be tweeting about them, but I guess we’re not in that universe.

An unusual tropical low spinning off the western coast of Peru. Tropical cyclones do not typically form in this part of the Pacific due to strong shear and lack of an ITCZ. This system previously caused heavy rainfall in Peru and Ecuador, where it was known as Cyclone #Yaku.
So now Elon is threatening to revoke access to Twitter if you don’t turn off SMS-based two-factor authentication, unless you subscribe to Twitter Blue. Weeeell…looks like I’m going to lose access to Twitter.
Post-Tropical Cyclone #Gabrielle going nowhere fast and continuing to lash New Zealand with heavy rain and storm-force winds, although its center is starting to lose some definition.
Invest #90P has been designated for a low pressure area located northeast of Papua New Guinea. Interestingly, despite (barely) being in the southern hemisphere, the system has a well-defined circulation that would be considered cyclonic in the northern hemisphere.
This system is expected to cross the equator into the Western Pacific basin, where it could have a brief opportunity for TC development before upper-level winds become unfavorable.
