Today marks my first time having #flightbenefits. Especially in college, when several of my friends had them from parents, I’ve dreamt of the day where I can go to an airport, choose a random flight, and take it to where it goes. I feel like a whole new world has opened.

Still true today

Now that I’m beginning to travel more again, it is interesting to see the differences between countries, especially β€œold” vs β€œnew” world. They don’t make them like they used to (though that’s not necessarily a bad thing)

#avgeek highlights from yesterday's Noise Oversight Committee meeting at MSP:

Delta is permanently replacing Air France in May

Delta phasing out CRJ2 and 757s from their fleet; 757 ops at MSP will decrease 53% YOY in 2023

US Navy's F-35 departure generated the most noise complaints in 2022

FAA's decommissioning of the MSP VOR will impact routing in and out airport; a community engagement period will be commencing soon to mitigate concerns.

Poor #Bismarck. RVR of 1200 when their best ILS is only 2400. Could be worse, such as spending over 3.5 hours on a #CRJ to go nowhere. #Flightdiversion
Mastodon is still growing and forming, but so far it seems like people here are... nice? Pleasant to interact with? Let's keep it that way
The end is near as the final factory-fresh Boeing 747 completes its first flight today (Sun 12/18) at Paine Field.
Flying to #Heathrow tomorrow, and both my flight out and my returning flight (on the one day in the middle of the BF strike where they aren't striking) have magically filled up. 🀞 for an upgrade
Finally did the thing! Aviation Management & Operations and Aviation Flight Science, Summa Cum Laude. And of course, #GoBroncos !
The new #Siemens Airo #train sets have the possibility to greatly improve mid-range train travel in the US, but I think what I’m most excited for with these are how it appears they are going to be dual source for the power: both an onboard diesel generator and catenary can power it. Hopefully this can be a push to make more #Amtrak routes electric
