Anne says: The motors are out of quarantine and we plan to assemble in person on 8th May 2026 at University of Warwick Campus for a fun day on motors and the filaments they walk along. Livestream is planned too. More details on registration, travel bursaries etc. will be revealed soon.

Congratulations to Laura, Maelle, Tim, and David from CAMDU who recently picked up the Technician Commitment Award for Outstanding Achievement - Team Award.
CAMDU is the Computing and Advanced Microscopy Unity in Warwick Medical School.

Rob says:
Sumiyoshi et al. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39012822/ asks, can kinesin heads tethered via surface loops still drive microtubule gliding? Indeed! Scanning a dsDNA tether across all exposed loops reveals a core mechanical cycle of the motor that underlies, and is amplified by, linker docking.

Tether-scanning the kinesin motor domain reveals a core mechanical action - PubMed

Natural kinesin motors are tethered to their cargoes via short C-terminal or N-terminal linkers, whose docking against the core motor domain generates directional force. It remains unclear whether linker docking is the only process contributing directional force or whether linker docking is coupled …

IBRB LT Noon TODAY!
After two weeks of hectic competition in the #WarwickUni Tri-Grid Challenge, early indications are that CMCB flyers came 7th with IBR Labrats teams in 8th and 9th place. Jasmine was 3rd overall, and 1st in the Walking competition. Steve was 1st in Running. We await the final count…
We're at the halfway point in the #WarwickUni Tri-grid challenge. CMCB Flyers languish in 9th place while IBR Labrats (teams 1 and 2) are in 6th and 8th place overall respectively. Our old adversaries Running Joke blaze ahead in 4th place. All to play for as we head into the second furious week of competition!
