@bhhaskin @ai6yr Model S owner here. I wouldn’t buy one today given Musk’s “behavior”, but it’s still a really nice car.

I agree there’s no reason to buy one in 2025 outside of politics, but I hope there’s a path to redemption for the company. The cars are great and if they get rid of Musk (it could happen) they have a shot. It would be a shame if the company fails because of one idiot.

I’m rooting for them, time will tell though.

@caseyliss

Very nice. How do you make the announcement? I’ve been trying to send audio announcements to HomePods, but it’s unreliable, to say the least. I may resort to using a Pi with a speaker, which I suspect you may be doing.

@caseyliss A widget with a list of shows I’m watching and/or want to watch; tap on a show and see where you are and where to stream.

Think of a Reminders-like task list, but for stuff we’re watching.

@paul It’s probably in the wrong location. I bet a soft link will fix it. 👹

@caseyliss My tactic:

* Got a shingles vaccine
* Said vaccine kicks my ass and I wake up with cold shivers
* Get to order new phone (16 Pro Max 512GB Black)
* Get to watch F1 practice
* Don’t get shingles

Win!

@Gte How can they be dominating a market when the iPhone has around 25% market share in Europe?

There are clear advantages to having tight integration. It seems to me some consumers prefer those advantages, about a quarter of European users in fact. For the 75% of consumers who want things other than tight integration there are a plethora of other choices.

In my view the DMA is removing choice from consumers, forcing all European consumers to buy android-like products and denying them the opportunity to choose the advantages tight integration offers.

@jsnell @marcoarment I assumed the opposite, that they went to Apple, or maybe just added to the local SPAM filtering on the phone. Whatever it does it’s not particularly good at it. I’ve been reporting SPAM for years and still get the same amount.

Who knows? Maybe I’d be getting ten times as much if I didn’t report it.

@briankrebs According to my wife, I’m a childish dog man.
@ai6yr San Francisco still has them, they were first installed in 1865 and apparently cost over $1M to maintain. That’s well worth it IMHO, but I’ve heard talk of them being too expensive.
